Hootsuite Japanese Flavour?

By June 24th, 2010 Personal 2 Comments

I just tried to log into Hootsuite and found this “Under Construction” page.

The surprise was not that Hootsuite is down, but that the message is in both English and Japanese.

If you didn’t know, I spent 3 years of my life in Japan. So every time I see a Nippon connection, I’m intrigued.

How I Use Foursquare

Lately I’ve been getting an unusual amount of Foursquare* request to connect with people. Most of the people sending the requests, unfortunately, will find that I’m ignoring it.

That’s probably because either I don’t know you well enough, or I don’t recognize your user name.

So before you go sending me or anyone else a Foursquare invitation, here’s my thoughts and personal guidelines for using Foursquare.

  • I won’t connect if I don’t know you.

Mixing Personal And Professional on This Blog

By April 10th, 2010 Personal No Comments
Please, feature an image for this post.

Lately I’ve been wanting to write about personal stuff. But too many non-professional things have crossed my mind and I’ve been reluctant to write here and dwarf the professional aspect of this blog.

So what should I do? On the one hand, it is my blog. I can do whatever I want. And there’s no way I’m starting a new blog just for personal things. On the other, I don’t want to confuse the millions of loyal readers…

This post, then, is just to say that I’m a bit torn balancing personal and valuable SEO, SEM and social media posts (because I do have a couple of ideas for the latter one).

Let me know if you have any suggestions.

Thank’s Alex-s (on Flickr) for the photo.

My Blurry Right Eye and CSR Experience

By March 14th, 2010 Personal 14 Comments

This image, from Wikipedia, shows what I have.

It’s been a little more than 5 weeks since my vision in my right eye went blurry.

In this post, beyond telling the story, I want to document what’s happening for future reference. So bare with me if I get a bit too detailed.

The blurriness on my right eye, as I recall, became apparent in a matter of days. Since starting working at Snaptech Marketing I’ve been staring at a screen more than usual so I thought I was just straining my eyes.

The First Optometrist: Dr. Gandham (Feb 16th, 2010)

On February 16th, a couple of days after first noticing the blurriness and it was obvious this was not normal, I went to the optometrist. I told Dr. Gandham the reason for coming in was my blurry right eye. He did the routine check, dilated my pupils and used the stereotypical equipment to look inside my eye.

The orginzers... but Im blocked.

The orginzers... but I'm blocked.

It’s almost midnight. I’m a little tipsy and not sure if it’s kosher to write while in this condition, but as Nike says, I’ll just do it.

I’m coming back from the Meetup of Meetups here were more people that I could count. The word is that there were more than 500; and I would believe it.

I’m not going to go into much detail because, as you can understand, I’m very sleepy. But I want to thank the all the Meetup organizers, @shanegibson, @netchick, @monicahamburg, @hummingbird604 and everyone else.

I’m not sure if this qualifies as Google Suggest #Fail, but as playing around with keywords trying to find out if it’s usual to use underlay for commercial carpeting, Google suggested the following:

I just thought I’d share that with everyone.

Twitter Username Problem Fixed – I can Tweet Again!

Im back to Twitter

I'm back to Twitter!

You know how I’ve been complaining about the username problem that wouldn’t let me use third party applications? Well, it’s fixed! YAY!

It was roughly a month without Twitter for me – except for the odd Tweet. At first, I didn’t think much about it. But 2 weeks in this no-Twitter life I noticed my offline life was also being affected. For example, I was (and still am) no longer aware of the hot networking events that are going on around the city.

Then Twitter introduced new functions, LinkedIn integrated with Twitter, and a whole whack of things started happening without me being able to be on board.

Going Through Some Changes…

I haven’t posted anything for a while. That’s because there are some changes on the way.

Don’t think for a second that there’s no movement on this side of the world. It’s like Disney World, sometimes the haunted house is closed for repairs….

Expect some updates next week me explaining what’s going on. I know is rough but don’t panic – don’t do it.

And thanks to Gilderic for the photo.

Changing Username #TwitterFail – Waiting For Fix

Something's wrong with Twitter.

I made the move and switched names. But little did I know that Twitter users are having problems switching account settings, usernames in particular.

Now I can only sign in with my email, but when I do the username reverts to the old one. If I click “home” to post an update it takes me to the new account with the old username.

This also means I can’t use Tweetdeck (desktop), or UberTwitter (mobile) – big problem. On top of that, when I sign in it reverts my changes (see bellow).

Twitter @jose_u Is Now @joseuonline

Changed my Twitter Username to @joseuonline!

In Twitter, Jose Uzcategui was @jose_u until today. From now on you can find me on Twitter at @joseuonline.

I know, switching names is a last resort. This will definitely will make a dent in my Twitter history. But this change was coming sooner or later for me. Plus, in internet time no one will remember the change in a few months.

But I have my reasons, here are the main ones:

  • My blog’s address is www.joseuonline.com
  • In some places I’m “jose_u” and in some “joseu”; it’s a bit confusing.  I’m gradually switching most usernames to joseuonline.
  • I now don’t have an “_” in my name.
  • I have a company called, JoseUonline Communications.
