Last week I wrote a few thoughts on segmenting experiences for the web (posted on online-behaviour.com).
It’s truly amazing to be in a space where most human actions can be measured and analyzed. Though there are some obvious pros and cons.
A couple of weeks ago Google announced that in order to make personalized searches more secure, Google Search is going be encrypt searches. Almost everyone in the Internet marketing community is pretty bummed out by this decision because this means that analytics tools, all of them, won’t be able to read the URL and collect the keyword that user used to get a site.
Sad times… for us online marketers because it will make the online space more secure, more privacy, world peace, blah, blah…
In the case of Google Analytics, searches from logged in users will be reported as “(not provided)”
A few days ago an Brian LaFrance posted an awesome article about how Target.com ‘s new site is failing at SEO, usability and… well, he points out a lot of things gone wrong.

Soon after publishing the post targeting “Yellow Pages 360 Solutions”, much to my surprise, I ranked top position right away. That was because of the Yellow Pages’ slip-up of not optimizing for these words.
It’s been more than a week since I published my last post as an experiment targeting keywords that should belong to Yellow Pages.
To my surprise, the post is ranking #1 for the intended keyword.
I will gather a couple more days of data and give the heads up to the Yellow Pages team in a future post.

The Yellow Pages 360 Solution… You’ve probably heard one of these commercials (at least in Vancouver, Canada), part of the very aggressive off-line marketing campaign from Yellow Pages Group.
It’s a smart move – if done right of course. (more…)
A couple of weeks ago I mentioned on my previous post that I had submitted a blog post talking about possible effects of conversion testing on SEO.
It’s now published, yay! Check it out, Conversion Rate Testing Effects on SEO, and let me know your thoughts. Feel free to give it a thumbs up. Really, go ahead, I don’t mind
A common question out when it comes to testing is, can conversion optimization testing affect SEO?
Yes, I believe testing can affect SEO, particularly when it comes to inexperienced testers.
I’ve submitted the post to SEOmoz today and will update everyone once is reviewed.
Cheers
Last year I signed up for the most basic service from Salesforce.com. At the time it was $99. A few months back I get an email reminder that my credit card on file has expired and that I need to update this information.
As I consider if to update or not I find out that this service is now worth $60 a year. Yet, the amount I’m being charged is $99. Understandably, I call to see if I’ve been upgraded without my permission or what. No, they just failed to let me know that the service was now $39 less.
I voice my objections to my account executive and she produces a new “quote” (that’s how Salesfoce.com sells you the service, they produce a quote, you accept it.). I check a couple of weeks later because my work situation is a bit crazy, only to find out that it has expired and that I can’t approve it.
Meanwhile, I keep getting reminders to pay for the $99 fee – a frustrating reminder that I’m being overcharged – really, really frustrating!
