Vancouver SEM Meetup – Oct 6th – Raquel Hirsch from Wider Funnel

Last week the Vancouver Search Engine Marketing Meetup had Raquel Hirsch from Wider Funnel as a presenter. The presentation, I thought was great; the sound and A/V quality at Ceili’s, not so much. Here are my thoughts:

The presentation was titled The Six Landing Page Success Factors. Wider Funnel is a company that specializes in Landing Page Optimization so it was very interesting to see the different case studies Raquel brought to the group.

The audio setup was not good at all, though. Most people who were at the back didn’t hear or see very well. I’ll forward the comments to Ceili’s and make sure to have a different setup next time.

Raquel went over many points, and here are some of the ones that stuck with me:

• Typically, to get more online clients you either increase your online advertising budget or you optimize – one of those obvious truth said in a way that makes lots of sense.
• There should be a Call for Action above the fold.
• Enlarge those Call for Action buttons!
• Cut copy in half.
• Minimize columns, typically, 2 is pretty good.

Raquel also mentioned a pretty cool site where you can vote between two pages which have been tested. After you vote, you can see which test won – the site is called www.whichtestwon.com
